ITR -2

  • Income more than 50 lakhs 
  • Income from Salaries, multiple house properties, capital gains from sale of property, stocks, Income from bank interest and dividend income​
  • Asset and Liabilities excel need to be filled whoever income crossed 1 cr (Mandatory)
  • ​If you hold ESSP or RSU’s and Foreign Asset.

ITR - 3

₹3500 - 7000

 

  • Income from profits and gains from business or profession and any other source of income. F&O , Intraday Trading.

Documents checklist​

 

1. Income from Salary

  • Form 16 (PY). 
  • Latest payslip (one month)
     

2. Income from House Property (if applicable)

  • Annual rent receipts / rent agreement. 
  • Municipal taxes paid (receipts).
  • Home loan statement showing principal and interest for PY.
     

3. Capital Gains (if applicable)

  • Purchase & sale statements for property (dates, consideration, cost, stamp duty). 
  • Statements for sale/purchase of shares & mutual funds (contract notes / consolidated capital gains statement). 
  • ESPP / RSU sale & grant details (grant date, vesting, sale proceeds, tax withheld). 
  • Futures & Options / Intraday trading P&L statements and broker contract notes.
     

4. Dividend & Foreign Investment

  • Dividend statements for foreign investments (amounts, dates, TDS/foreign tax if any).
  • Annual dividend statement from foreign brokers/platforms.
     

5. Foreign asset & equity disclosures

  • ESPPs, RSUs, and any foreign asset holdings (bank accounts, securities, property) — provide statements showing balances and transaction history for FY 2025-26.
     

6. Interest income

  • Bank statements or interest certificates for savings accounts (interest on savings is taxable). 
  • Fixed deposit interest certificates (if any).


7. Donations

  • Donation receipts for contributions you want to claim (specify whether the donation was already reflected in Form 16). If not included in Form 16, upload receipt copy and clarify payee/section (e.g., 80G).

If you earn income between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025,
that period is called Previous Year (PY 2024–25).

You will file the tax return for this income in the Assessment Year (AY 2025–26).

 Individuals who miss the ITR filing deadline can file a belated return up to 31st December of the Assessment Year, subject to extensions by the government.
